We are offering young musicians the opportunity to be mentored by a member of the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House with Overture: the mentorship programme of the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House.
We are investing in the future of orchestral talent by nurturing young musicians. Overture provides tailored opportunities for young musicians who currently encounter barriers in their musical training, while enhancing the professional and vocational skills of our orchestral musicians.
Age 18-25 and can play a musical instrument? We are excited to present a unique opportunity to learn with members of the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden, London, in collaboration with Black Lives in Music (BLiM) and the National Open Youth Orchestra.
“We were all amazed by how much we learned from all playing together and how much fun it was.”

Case Study: Lucy and Marina
In 2022 Lucy joined the Royal Opera House orchestra mentorship programme, working with Orchestra of the Royal Opera House Principal Bass Clarinettist, Marina Finnamore who supported Lucy as her mentor.
“This love and enthusiasm was contagious and certainly helped me to find a little extra energy to really give my best.”
If you have any questions regarding the programme, please e-mail overture@roh.org.uk. To find out more about the Royal Ballet and Opera's commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, see Our Commitments.
