How to apply

Applications for the 2024/25 Season are now closed.

We welcome applications from young people from the UK aged 18-25 who identify as being from an underrepresented group and play one of the instruments below. We encourage applications from underrepresented communities who may identify as global majority, Disabled, LGBTQ+, and /or from a low-social-economic background. If you have encountered a barrier in accessing high quality musical training experiences, we would encourage you to apply.

Placements are available for the following instruments this Season:

Violin

Viola

Cello

Flute

Clarinet

Bassoon

Horn

Trumpet

Percussion

You can begin your application through the 'expression of interest form'. When we have your details through this, we will send more information about how to submit your application. This form will become available when applications re-open.

Applications include:

  • A five-minute audition video of yourself performing a piece of your choice (unaccompanied)
  • A video recording of yourself performing excepts from the booklet that we will send to you
  • EITHER a video of three to five minutes in which you introduce yourself (e.g. your background, your musical experience and how you may benefit from being an Overture mentee)
  • OR a written statement in which you introduce yourself

Your place on the mentorship programme is conditional on confirmation that you meet the selection criteria. We embrace and celebrate the different contributions that everyone brings to our organisation; we encourage applicants to fill in all sections of the application form to help us have an accurate understanding of you and your skills.
