Biography

Deirdre Chapman grew up in Minneapolis and danced professionally from 1992–2014 with San Francisco Ballet, Rambert Dance Company, and was a first soloist with The Royal Ballet. Her repertory included works by Ashton, Balanchine, Brandstrup, Bruce, Bournonville, Canaparoli, Cunningham, DeMille, DeValois, Ek, Flindt, Forsythe, Kylian, MacMillan, Marston, Morris, Naharin, Nijinska, Nijinsky, Petipa, Taylor, Tetley, Tharp, Tomasson, Tuckett, Robbins, and Wheeldon among others. She has an MA in Dance Anthropology from Roehampton University and a Diploma in teaching from the Royal Ballet School. She currently teaches and coaches for both The Royal Ballet and Rambert Dance Company. For The Royal Ballet her staging credits include several works by Kim Brandstrup: Rushes and Ceremony of Innocence. She also assisted Aakash Odedra on Unearthed (2014), Hofesh Shechter on Untouchable (2015) and Crystal Pite on Flight Pattern (2017) and Solo Echo (2021).
