Biography

Baritone Juan Jesús Rodríguez was born in Huelva and graduated from the Music Academy in Madrid. He is known for his Verdi interpretations and has worked with conductors including Zubin Mehta, Nicola Luisotti, Donald Palumbo, Marco Armiliato, Donato Renzetti and Riccardo Frizza and with directors including Giancarlo del Monaco, Gilbert Defló, John Cox, Emilio Sagi, Davide Livermore and Hugo de Ana. Stage appearances include in Palermo, Naples, Florence, Turin, Beijing, Barcelona, Madrid, Seville, Valencia and Bilbao. Recent highlights include Il trovatore, Cyrano de Bergerac and Ford in Falstaff (Metropolitan Opera), Don Carlo (Bilbao, Madrid), Nabucco (Las Palmas, Marseille), Macbeth (Marseille, Avignon), Un ballo in maschera (Rome), Rigoletto (Madrid, Hamburg, Los Angeles, Bregenz), I vespri siciliani (Valencia), La traviata (Hamburg), Simon Boccanegra (Marseille), Andrea Chénier (Seville, Berlin), Lucia di Lammermoor (Bilbao) and Luisa Miller (Barcelona). He made his debut with The Royal Opera in the 2022/23 Season as Germont (La traviata).
