Molly O’Cathain is a set and costume designer working across theatre, dance, and opera. She is a founding member and company designer for the award-winning Malaprop Theatre. Previous designs for Irish National Opera include Bajazet (co-production with the Royal Opera House; 2022 Olivier award for outstanding achievement in opera). Other credits include The Magic Flute (set design, Sofia Opera), An Octoroon (costume design, Abbey Theatre), Constellations (Gate Theatre), The Playboy of the Western World (Dublin Theatre Festival/Gaiety Theatre/Lyric Theatre Belfast), To the Lighthouse (costume design, The Everyman/Hatch Productions), The Wrens (DanColley/Draíocht), Haunted/If These Wigs Could Talk (THISISPOPBABY), The Realistic Joneses (Smock Alley/Laguna Playhouse, California), Ask Too Much of Me (Peacock Theatre/National Youth Theatre), Love Songs (Philip Connaughton Dance) and Minseach (Sibéal Davitt Dance), and HOTHOUSE, Where Sat the Lovers, Before You Say Anything, Everything Not Saved, BlackCatfishMusketeer and LOVE+ (all for Malaprop Theatre).
