English dancer Nicol Edmonds is a First Soloist of The Royal Ballet. He joined the Company in 2012 from Finnish National Ballet, and was promoted to First Artist in 2014, Soloist in 2015 and to First Soloist in 2021.
Edmonds was born in South Devon and trained at the Elmhurst School for Dance. He graduated into Finnish National Ballet in 2010, where his repertory included Benvolio (Romeo and Juliet) and the title role in The Nutcracker.
Edmond’s repertory with the Company has included Leontes (The Winter's Tale), Gaoler (Manon), Espada (Don Quixote), The Prince (Cinderella), Prince Siegfried (Swan Lake), Prince (The Nutcracker), Gypsy Girl’s Lover (The Two Pigeons), Lensky (Onegin), Paris and Benvolio (Romeo and Juliet), second movement (Symphony in C), pas de six (Giselle), Florestan and Wolf (The Sleeping Beauty), Rajah/Caterpillar (Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland), Colonel 'Bay' Middleton (Mayerling) and roles in Monotones II, Enigma Variations, Concerto, Dances at a Gathering, The Human Seasons, After the Rain, Obsidian Tear, Scènes de ballet, Viscera, ‘Emeralds’ (Jewels), Connectome, Swan Lake, La Bayadère, Raven Girl, The Firebird, Aeternum, Yugen, Woolf Works, DGV: Danse à grande vitesse, Corybantic Games and Like Water for Chocolate. He has created roles in Robert Binet's Dark with Excessive Bright, McGregor’s Tetractys and Scarlett's Symphonic Dances. Engagements away from The Royal Ballet include dancing at Wembley Stadium with Seeta Patel for the Indian prime minister Narendra Modi.
