Born in Wales, Pencarreg studied at the RNCM, and won the Erich Vietheer Memorial Award from Glyndebourne. His roles include Mozart’s Figaro (Opera North, English Touring Opera), Leporello (Opera North, Mid Wales Opera), Masetto (Opera North, Glyndebourne Festival), Peter in Hänsel und Gretel and De Brétigny in Manon (Opera North), Kuligin in Kát’a Kabanová (Glyndebourne Festival), Lescaut in Manon and Papageno (English Touring Opera) and Luka in The Bear (Monte-Carlo Opera). He created Lalchand (The Firework-Maker’s Daughter) for The Opera Group, reprising it for the Royal Opera House and on tour. 2024/25 season highlights include: Doctor Bartolo in Le nozze di Figaro (Welsh National Opera) and his 2025/26 highlights include Zweiter Preister in Die Zauberflöte and Alcindoro in La bohème (The Royal Opera), and Pistola in Falstaff at the Teatru Manoel, Malta. Previously for The Royal Opera: Fiorello in Il barbiere di Siviglia, Flemish Deputy in Don Carlo, Padre Sansón in The Exterminating Angel and Alcindoro in La bohème. In the 2025/26 Season, he sings Second Priest (The Magic Flute) and Alcindoro (La bohème).
