Biography

Tenor Ya-Chung Huang’s upcoming engagements include Goro (Madama Butterfly) for the Royal Opera House and Bayerische Staatsoper, his role debut as Torquemada (L’Heure espagnole) for Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, Prince Nilsky (The Gambler) for the Salzburg Festival, Mime (Das Ring des Nibelungen) and Chairman Mao (Nixon in China) for Deutsche Oper Berlin and house debuts at the Norwegian National Opera and Teatro Real, Madrid. Concert engagements include Mime (Siegfried) with the Netherlands Radio Orchestra and Young Servant (Elektra) with the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra. Recent engagements include Schoolmaster (The Cunning Little Vixen) in his Theater an der Wien debut, Pong (Turandot) for Dutch National Opera and Bardolfo (Falstaff) and First Jew (Salome) for Bayerische Staatsoper. He has been a member of the Ensemble at Deutsche Oper Berlin since the 2018/19 Season, and made his debuts as Mime (Das Ring des Nibelungen) and David (Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg) in the 2021/22 Season. This is his Royal Opera House debut.
