The Royal Opera House is committed to protecting your personal data. It’s your data, it’s personal and we respect that. We also want to maintain the trust and confidence of every one of our job applicants. Before completing your online application please take some time to read this Recruitment Privacy Statement.

During the course of our recruitment activities we will process the personal data (which may be held on paper or electronically) of our job vacancy applicants and we recognize the need to treat it in an appropriate and lawful manner, in accordance with Data Protection legislation.

The purpose of this statement is to make you aware that when you apply for a vacancy with the Royal Opera House we will handle your personal data in the following way:

What personal data do we collect during the recruitment process?

During the application process you will be asked to provide personal data about yourself. This is information about you from which you can be identified. It includes your name, contact details and other personal information including qualifications and career history.

Where do we store and how do we protect your personal data?

The Royal Opera House is committed to protecting the personal information you entrust to us. The information you provide and we record is stored within our electronic applicant tracking system provided to the Royal Opera House by the Pixid Group. The data is only viewed by staff responsible for the recruitment process. Such information will be treated as confidential and only authorised persons involved in the recruiting process will be able to process your data. Your data will always be kept within the European Economic Area and will always be under our sole control.

How and why do we use your personal data?

We will process your data to enable us to complete all stages of our recruitment process. Processing means doing anything with the data, such as accessing, disclosing, destroying or using the data in any way. We use digital tools to facilitate some parts of the recruitment process with you the candidate for the administration of your job application, however we do not use any automated decision making in our processes.

The Royal Opera House considers the processing of your personal data for the above purposes to be necessary for us to take steps with a view to creating a contractual relationship with you.

Providing special categories of personal data

Please note you should not include any special categories of personal data about yourself within your application form (including any attached document that you may have submitted to us). By special categories of data we refer to data of a personal nature that reveals, directly or indirectly, your racial or ethnic origins, your political, philosophical or religious opinions, your membership of a trade union, information which relates to your health or your sexual orientation and any biometric information e.g. a photograph of yourself.

The Royal Opera House is an equal opportunities employer and actively encourages people from diverse backgrounds to join our teams. At the end of your application form we invite you to complete our Diversity Monitoring Form. You are not obliged to complete this form. However, please be assured that the information collected will be kept entirely anonymous, confidential and retained only in the Human Resources department; it is not available to, or used by, the selection panel. Our equality and diversity reporting is for the organization as a whole and data is not attributable to individuals. If you decide not to complete this form it will not impact your job application in any way.

How long will we keep your personal data?

Once you have applied for a vacancy with us, we will keep your profile active for a maximum period of 36 months from the last contact with you as a candidate. If you choose to apply for further vacancies within this period certain fields will automatically be completed based on your previous answers; these can be amended if required.

You have a right of access, of rectification or of deletion of your personal data.

Sign into your online account at any time to view the vacancies you have applied for in the past three years. You can also update your email alert preferences and opt out of further notifications if required.
