Background

Join acclaimed British tenor, Toby Spence, as he leads a masterclass with Young Artists of the National Opera Studio.

British tenor Toby Spence studied at New College, Oxford, where he graduated with honours and was a choral scholar, and at the Opera School of the Guildhall School of Music & Drama. He was the winner of the Royal Philharmonic Society 2011 Singer of the Year award. He has appeared at houses worldwide, including at the Royal Opera House, Metropolitan Opera, Paris Opera, Bayerische Staatsoper, Liceu, Barcelona and San Francisco Opera, as well as at the Salzburg and Aix-en-Provence festivals. In concert, he has sung with orchestras including the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, San Francisco Symphony, London Symphony Orchestra, London Philharmonic Orchestra and Los Angeles Philharmonic.2023/24 Season plans include a return to the Royal Opera House for Erik (The Flying Dutchman) and house debuts at Vienna State Opera as Alonso in The Tempest,  and at Opéra National de Lorraine, in the title role of Idomeneo.
