Official Christmas Partner: Paul Smith

In 2025, Paul Smith became the official Christmas partner of the Royal Ballet and Opera, with a Christmas tree at the heart of our collaboration.

The partnership

For the first time, The Royal Opera House partnered with iconic British designer Paul Smith, who designed a striking Christmas Tree that was installed in our Paul Hamyln Hall from November 2025 to January 2026. This was an opportunity to transform the Royal Opera House into a festive destination, providing Paul Smith with powerful brand visibility at a key moment in the calendar, including access to:

  • Footfall of 300,000 across the festive period
  • Over 6 million social media followers

Inspired by going on a backstage tour, Paul's maximalist creation brought to life the magic of our archives, showcasing various props and ephemera that he found on his tour. The Christmas tree was complemented with an external display on the Davies Terrace, capturing attention from tourists and visitors on Bow Street, drawing them into the building. The campaign vision was further brought to life through a coordinated social media content series and a curated launch event, which was amplified through press and media activity. We also hosted activities throughout the season which attracted crowds to view the installation, from lunchtime recitals to afternoon teas.
