Opening in September 2025, the spaces offer an exceptional dining and drinking experience on the fifth floor of one of London’s oldest theatres. Both the restaurant and terrace bar will be available to the public as well as ticket holders.

Perched on the fifth floor of the Royal Opera House, the restaurant will serve lunch and dinner, showcasing the flavours and ingredient-led approach that have become Angela’s hallmark.

Open daily, the rooftop terrace bar will feature an all-day Italian bar – inspired by the timeless bars seen in Turin and set against panoramic views over the Covent Garden Piazza and the West End of London.

Angela Hartnett

One of the UK’s most renowned chefs and restaurateurs, Angela’s passion for cooking was inspired by her Italian grandmother. After working in several family-run restaurants, she eventually got a role in the kitchen and began to learn on the job before working as a chef in Barbados. After returning to the UK, Angela began working as a protegee of Gordon Ramsey. She went on to join Marcus Wareing as a sous-chef at Petrus, becoming head-chef after 7 months, before moving onto The Connaught where she earned her first Michelin star in 2004.

In 2007, Angela was awarded an MBE for services to the hospitality industry before opening her own restaurant, Murano, in Mayfair. Here she earned her second Michelin star and four AA rosettes. Famed for Angela’s signature Italian dishes, Murano would open three sister locations across London. In 2022, she was awarded an OBE for services to the hospitality industry and for services to the NHS during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Alongside her incredible work as a chef, Angela is also known for her appearances on television. She appeared for several years as a judge on Great British Menu and on BBC’s Best Home Cook alongside Mary Berry. Her podcast, Dish, with Nick Grimshaw hosts weekly dinner parties with well-known celebrities and is one of the top listened to podcasts in the UK.

Angela Hartnett said:

“Opening at the Royal Opera House – such an iconic London institution – is a real privilege. We’re creating something entirely new for the space: relaxed, with food that celebrates exceptional produce and simplicity. Most of all we want the restaurant and bar to be for everyone, not just for those attending a performance.”

Sophie Wybrew-Bond, Chief Commercial Officer, Royal Ballet and Opera said:

“We’re absolutely thrilled to be collaborating with Angela Hartnett at the Royal Opera House on creating breathtaking new spaces - where exceptional art and extraordinary food come together in perfect harmony. Working with our longstanding partners, Company of Cooks, and set in the vibrant heart of Covent Garden, our new restaurant and terrace bar are poised to become one of London’s most exciting dining and drinking destinations.”
