Royal Ballet and Opera appoints Tina Ramdeen as Director of Learning and Participation

The Royal Ballet and Opera (RBO) are delighted to announce the appointment of Tina Ramdeen as Director of Learning and Participation. 

Tina Ramdeen joins the Royal Ballet and Opera from the Roundhouse where she is currently the Associate Director of Young People. She will begin the role on 13 July 2026 and brings extensive experience in cultural education, youth leadership and sector-wide policy development. Tina will lead the Royal Ballet and Opera's Learning and Participation team to deliver bold, inclusive engagement that inspires creativity in young people and communities across the country. 

An acclaimed cultural education leader, Tina is widely recognised for her innovative and transformative work with children and young people to provide equitable access to high quality creative opportunities, progression pathways to diversify the creative industries, and the empowerment of young people to use creativity to affect social change. Tina is a Trustee for the Cultural Learning Alliance, an Advisor at the Paul Hamlyn Foundation and was previously an Expert Advisory Panel member on the Department for Education and the Department for Culture, Media and Sports' Cultural Education Plan.

The impact of RBO’s learning work has been felt across the country. Under the leadership of outgoing Director of Learning and Participation, Jillian Barker, this area grew five-fold, with more than 150,000 children and young people inspired last year through engagement with RBO programmes, supporting creativity, confidence and skills development. Through sustained investment in education and talent development, the Royal Ballet and Opera continues to demonstrate the ambition, reach and social value of its learning offer.
