The Royal Ballet and Opera has been awarded the prestigious WOLF Award for Future Legacy at the Walpole British Luxury Awards 2025, in recognition of its exceptional commitment to nurturing, developing and preserving the talent and skills that underpin the UK’s creative industries.

Held at The Dorchester, the Walpole British Luxury Awards is an annual celebration of the creativity, craftsmanship and innovation that define Britain’s luxury sector. This year’s ceremony honoured the individuals and organisations that have made a transformative impact across fashion, design, culture and the arts.

We’re a pillar of UK culture and creativity, producing world-class ballet and opera. We know we’re only ever as good as the incredibly skilled and talented people we work with who are part of the fabric of our organisation, our history and our present.

That’s why we’re deeply committed to nurturing the talent that is crucial not only to our success, but to the wider success of the UK’s creative industries. Whether it’s theatre, film, music, dance or art, our entire sector is strengthened when new and diverse talent is given the opportunity to thrive.

Sophie Wybrew-Bond - Chief Commercial Officer, Royal Ballet and Opera

The Royal Ballet and Opera stood out among the winners, alongside other notable recipients including Aston Martin, Goodwood Art Foundation and Gusbourn for its role as a powerhouse of creativity and a guardian of cultural heritage.

With a workforce of over 3,000, two-thirds of whom are freelance, the organisation draws on a vast and diverse pool of talent. These highly skilled professionals work across disciplines including wig-making, costume making, armoury, woodwork and traditional crafts - skills that are not only essential to the creation of world-class ballet and opera but also form the backbone of the UK’s wider creative industries. Their expertise supports theatre, film, fashion, music and more, preserving centuries-old traditions while driving innovation across the sector.

I am a very proud member of this extraordinary organisation. It’s where I danced for twenty years, and where I continue to work today. The Royal Ballet and Opera is not just a place of performance - it’s a place of passion, dedication and legacy.

Dame Darcey Bussell - Coach, Presenter and Former Principal Dancer
