This Christmas, step into a magical winter wonderland at the Royal Opera House and enjoy a range of festive activities.

In the Royal Opera House Café, children can experience Nutcracker-themed biscuit decorating, guided by our in-house patisserie team. The workshops will be hosted on 28 November and 12 December from 12noon–1pm and 1.30–2.30pm, costing £15 per child. No booking is required, places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.

You can also enjoy exquisite festive treats in the Royal Opera House Café — all inspired by The Nutcracker and the magic of Christmas, and available throughout the day at the café counter. Perfect for lunch or an afternoon tea break, the dishes can be taken away or enjoyed in the Royal Opera House’s winter-inspired spaces.

Throughout December, sample a delicious range of winter cocktails designed in partnership with Grey Goose vodka upstairs in our Piazza Winter Terrace Bar. Cosy up with a Christmas Cosmopolitan, a wintery mulled pear and ginger pick-me-up, or an eggnog White Russian. The Piazza Winter Terrace Bar will be open daily from 18 November–12 January from 12noon until late. No booking is required.

Experience the festive magic on our stages too. Visit the Linbury Theatre to be transported to a far-away land complete with enchanted forests and mystical creatures in Wolf Witch Giant Fairy – a collaboration between The Royal Opera and innovative theatre company Little Bulb. Opening on 17 December, the production will be both The Royal Opera’s first fully staged work in the Linbury Theatre since closure in March 2020, and also the first show at Covent Garden where all performances are relaxed performances — allowing for noise and movement within the auditorium, re-entry when needed, and including chill-out spaces. Tickets are available now from just £4.

The Royal Ballet’s classic production of The Nutcracker, set to Tchaikovsky’s much-loved score, is as enchanting as ever, taking audiences on a journey packed with mystery and magic. Join Clara as she travels to the Kingdom of Sweets, encountering a flurry of Snowflakes and the Sugar Plum Fairy on the way. This festive favourite returns to the Royal Opera House Main Stage on 23 November, and will be screened live in UK cinemas on 9 December. Find your local cinema screening here.

Whether you are treating family to a day out or enjoying festive drinks with friends, the Royal Opera House has something for you this Christmas.
