The 2021/22 Season opened with this new production of Verdi’s masterpiece directed by Oliver Mears.
Absolutely incredible Rigoletto @RoyalOperaHouse tonight by Oliver Mears - devastatingly good: macabre, cruel and eye-popping (literally), with unbelievable set design, direction and performance. That wretched Duke, lying so women love him, a baddy for all ages. #opera #London pic.twitter.com/cvPL6Oc7Zv

It was so good to be back @RoyalOperaHouse last night with a full chorus and orchestra. Fabulous set and a stand out performance from Lisette Oropesa https://t.co/kzX9gfIJbT

Maestro Pappano with his excellent cast @RoyalOperaHouse - this was proper, big house, precision Verdi from those baleful opening brass chords to the thunderous end #ROHRigoletto pic.twitter.com/GyfC6vDHJT

Wonderful opening night. My chum marking her 60th year in the audience @RoyalOperaHouse said @Lisette_Oropesa the greatest Gilda she’d heard there. The greatest in an all round great cast. Bravi!

A really brilliant #ROHrigoletto on opening night of the new season at the @RoyalOperaHouse - a 'clean' production, I always thought the McVicar was pretty 'busy', but the cast, orchestra and chorus were absolutely stunning. @Lisette_Oropesa's Gilda is just 🤩👏
