Born in Ireland, Tynan is a Jette Parker Artist alumna (2002–04) and the winner of the Rosenblatt Recital Prize at BBC Cardiff Singer of the World (2003). Roles for The Royal Opera include Gretel (Hansel and Gretel), Berta (The Barber of Seville), First Lady (The Magic Flute), Podtotshina’s Daughter (The Nose) and Madame Cortese (Il viaggio a Reims). Elsewhere she has performed Mimì, Vixen, Suor Angelica, Zemfira in Aleko, Nella in Gianni Schicchi (Grange Park Opera); Gretel (Welsh National Opera, Scottish Opera); Héro in Béatrice et Bénédict (Houston Grand Opera, Opéra Comique); Papagena (La Scala, Milan); Despina (Garsington Opera, Théâtre du Capitole de Toulouse); Tigrane in Radamisto (English National Opera); Miss Wordsworth in Albert Herring (Opéra Comique, Opéra de Rouen); and Atalanta in Serse, Nannetta in Falstaff and Sophie in Der Rosenkavalier (Royal Swedish Opera). Engagements for 2024/25 include Governess in The Turn of the Screw (English National Opera) and Berta in Il barbiere di Siviglia (Glyndebourne).
