Biography

Russian baritone Aleksei Isaev graduated from the Gnesin Russian Academy of Music. His roles for The Royal Opera include Scarpia (Tosca) , Don Carlo (La forza del destino), Carlo Gérard (Andrea Chénier), Count di Luna (Il trovatore) and Vodník (Rusalka). Additional roles include Renato (Un ballo in maschera), Germont (La traviata), Nabucco and Iago (Otello) for the Moscow Philharmonic; Mazepa and Robert (Iolanta) for Theater an der Wien; Vodník for Théâtre du Capitole, Toulouse; Enrico Ashton (Lucia di Lammermoor) for Semperoper Dresden; the title role of Eugene Onegin in Bari; the title role of The Demon in Bordeaux; the title role of Prince Igor in Ufa; Germont in Helsinki; Gryaznoy (The Tsar’s Bride) in Tallinn; and Renato and Escamillo (Carmen) in Bangkok. Awards include the ‘Brilliant Start in Art’ award from the Elena Obraztsova foundation. Engagements for 2024/25 include the title roles in Nabucco and Der fliegende Holländer in Toulouse, Herrmann in Catalani’s Lorelei at the Concertgebouw and Sharpless (Madama Butterfly) at the Bayerische Staatsoper.

Aleksei Isaev is scheduled to perform in La traviata on 8 January, 10 January, 14 January, 16 January, 23 January, 28 January and 31 January 2026
