Biography
Born in Turin, Italian baritone Alessandro Corbelli has sung worldwide, in European and American opera houses including the Metropolitan Opera, in Chicago, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Houston. His awards include the Premio Abbiati della Critica and the Premio Rossini d’Oro. Recent engagements include Don Magnifico in La Cenerentola (Chicago and Houston), Dr Bartolo in Il Barbiere di Siviglia in Chicago and at the Salzburg Festival, Michonnet in Adriana Lecouvreur at La Scala and Taddeo in L’italiana in Algeri in Salzburg. 2025/26 Season highlights include returns to Houston as Bartolo in Il Barbiere di Siviglia and to Monte-Carlo as Don Alfonso (Così fan tutte). Highlights of his 2024/25 Season include his role debut as Dr Bartolo (Le nozze di Figaro) at Glyndebourne. His previous roles for The Royal Opera include Fra Melitone (La forza del destino), Don Geronio (Il turco in Italia), Michonnet and more. In the 2025/26 Royal Opera Season he sings the Sacristan in Tosca.
