Biography
Hungarian-Romanian bass Alexander Köpeczi is the winner of the Herbert von Karajan Prize. His 2025/26 highlights included Ramfis (Aida) for Paris Opera, Colline and Sarastro for the Metropolitan Opera, Alvise (La Gioconda) for Liceu, Barcelona, Raimondo (Lucia di Lammermoor) for Teatro di San Carlo, Naples, Ferrando (Il trovatore) for Bayerische Staatsoper and Sparafucile (Rigoletto) for The Royal Opera. Other recent engagements include Colline and Sparafucile for Dutch National Opera and Fafner (Siegfried) for Atlanta Opera. Engagements for 2026/27 include Ramfis for Liceu, Barcelona and the Metropolitan Opera, a tour of Bluebeard’s Castle with Anna Netrebko and Filippo (Don Carlo) and Sparafucile for Bayerische Staatsoper.
