Greek bass Alexandros Stavrakakis was awarded First Prize at the 2019 International Tchaikovsky Competition and is a former ensemble member at Semperoper Dresden, where he regularly performs. Recent highlights include his house debuts at the Metropolitan Opera as Monk (Don Carlo) and King (Aida), Houston Grand Opera as Landgraf Hermann (Tannhäuser), Bayerische Staatsoper as King and Liceu, Barcelona as Vodník (Rusalka), as well as returns to Opera National de Bordeaux, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Bolshoi Theatre, Teatro Massimo di Palermo, the Verbier Festival and the Aix-en-Provence Festival. Engagements for 2025/26 include his house debut at Paris Opera in La bohème, returns to the Metropolitan Opera and Semperoper Dresden for La bohème, Aida in Dresden and a solo recital at the Megaron in Athens.
