The American-Ukrainian-Russian choreographer Alexei Ratmansky trained at the Bolshoi Ballet School, Moscow and subsequently danced with the National Ballet of Ukraine, Royal Winnipeg Ballet and Royal Danish Ballet. His work is performed by major ballet companies worldwide, receiving awards including four Russian Golden Mask Awards, the Benois de la Danse and a National Dance Award. He is known widely as a specialist in revising and reviving 19th and early 20th century ballet repertoire. From 2004-2008, Alexei was the artistic director of the Bolshoi Ballet. He now holds the title of artist in residence at New York City Ballet. Most recently Alexei was appointed Associate Artist with Dutch National Ballet.
