Biography

Born in Mongolia, Enkhbat graduated from the Mongolian State University of the Arts and is an Honoured Artist of Mongolia. He began his career as a principal soloist at the State Academic Opera House of Mongolia. Awards include prizes at Operalia and the BBC Cardiff Competition, Queen Sonja Competition and International Tchaikovsky Competition (St Petersburg). Recent engagements include Carlo Gérard (Andrea Chénier) for Teatro Carlo Felice, Genoa, Scarpia (Tosca), Don Carlo di Vargas (La forza del destino) and the title role in Rigoletto (La Scala, Milan) and Amonasro in Aida (Metropolitan Opera). Other engagements include Rigoletto (Hamburg, Parma, Macerata, Geneva), Macbeth and Amonasro (La Scala, Milan), Nabucco (Vienna, Padova, Berlin), Count di Luna in Il trovatore (Florence, Teatro di San Carlo, Opera Carlo Felice Genova), Scarpia in Tosca (Teatro di San Carlo, Opera Carlo Felice Genova), Don Carlo di Vargas (Maggio Musicale, Parma) and Cavalleria rusticana and Pagliacci (Arena di Verona, Vienna State Opera). His roles for The Royal Opera include Rigoletto, Nabucco and Carlo Gerard. Engagements for 2025/26 include Rigoletto in San Francisco and Milan, Aida in Paris, Nabucco in Vienna, Macbeth in Munich, La traviata in New York, Simon Boccanegra in San Francisco.
