Biography

Moldovan baritone Andrey Zhilikhovsky completed his studies in choral conducting at the Stefan Nyaga Musical College in Chișinău, later attending the Rimsky-Korsakov State Conservatory in St. Petersburg. His recent engagements include La bohème and Il barbiere di Siviglia for the Metropolitan Opera, Il viaggio a Reims and Il barbiere di Siviglia for Dresden Semperoper, a new production of War and Peace for Bayerische Staatsoper and Rodrigue (Don Carlo) for Finnish National Opera. Additional highlights include Così fan tutte for Washington National Opera, Yeletsky (Queen of Spades) for the Liceu, Barcelona and Don Giovanni for Glyndebourne. Concert performances include Iolanta with the Berlin Philharmonic and Maria Padilla with Teatro de la Maestranza. He made his Royal Opera debut in the 2022/23 Season as Marcello (La bohème). Engagements for 2025/26 include debuts for Dutch National Opera debut as Lionel (The Maid of Orleans), Grand Théâtre de Genève as Sharpless (Madama Butterfly) and Vienna State Opera as Marcello. In the 2025/26 Royal Opera Season he sings the Count Almaviva in The Marriage of Figaro.
