From Yerevan, Armenia, he studied at the Komitas State Conservatory. Initially a baritone, he sang leading roles with the Armenian National Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet and was a principal baritone at the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Music Theatre, where roles included Rossini’s Figaro, Belcore (L’Elisir d’amore), Taddeo (L’italiana in Algeri), Giorgio Germont (La traviata), Prince Yeletsky (Pique Dame), Danilo (Die lustige Witwe) and Napoleon (War and Peace). He made his tenor debut in 2017 at the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Music Theatre, as Mario Cavaradossi (Tosca). Roles since have included Alfredo (La traviata) in Turin, Otello with the Berlin Philharmonic and Don Alvaro (La forza del destino) in Frankfurt. Awards include the State Prize of Armenia (2006) and First Prize at the Pavel Lisitsian International Competition. Engagements for 2025/26 include Otello (Vienna State Opera, Bayerische Staatsoper on Tour in Shanghai), Aida (Opera de Monte-Carlo), Pique Dame (Opéra Royal de Wallonie-Liège) and Il tabarro (Vienna State Opera).
