British bass-baritone Ashley Riches studied at King’s College, Cambridge, and the Guildhall School of Music & Drama. A former Jette Parker Young Artist at the Royal Opera House and BBC New Generation Artist, his repertoire encompasses opera, concert works and recitals, ranging from Bach to contemporary works. Last Season’s highlights include Stravinsky’s Requiem Canticles at the BBC Proms under Ilan Volkov and the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Berlioz’s La damnation de Faust in the role of Brander with Rafael Payare and the Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal, Handel’s Rinaldo with Harry Bicket and The English Concert, Tippett’s A Child of Our Time under Ryan Wigglesworth and the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra and Norris’ A Christmas Carol recital at the Wigmore Hall. His 2026/27 Season includes his house debut at the Tiroler Festspiele Erl in Die ferne Klang, Melisso in Handel’s Alcina for Opéra de Lille and a tour of Messiah for Le Concert d’Astrée and Emmanuelle Haim. His debut recital disc, A Musical Zoo, was released in 2021.
