Beibei Wang is recognised as one of the most distinctive voices in percussion today, celebrated for her ‘high energy virtuosity’ (Wall Street Journal) and her singular ability to unite classical and traditional Chinese percussion traditions. She has performed as soloist with the world’s leading ensembles, including the BBC Symphony Orchestra, Toronto Symphony Orchestra, New Japan Philharmonic and Boston Modern Orchestra Project. Recent highlights include premieres of her new immersive visual concert of contemporary percussion at TICAfest, Hong Kong, and the premieres of her new compositions at LSO St Luke’s. A champion of new music, Wang collaborates closely with living composers, leading contemporary choreographers and ensembles, among them the RPS Award-winning Manchester Collective.
