Biography
Bogdan Volkov studied singing at the Glier Kyiv Institute of Music and the Ukrainian National Tchaikovsky Academy of Music. He is a former young artist and ensemble member of the Bolshoi and a former member of the Staatsoper Berlin ensemble (2022–23). Awards include First and Audience Prizes at the Paris Opera Competition (2015) and Second Prize in Operalia (2016). Recent engagements include Don Giovanni, Dialogues des Carmélites and Eugene Onegin for Vienna State Opera, Die Zauberflöte for Staatsoper Berlin, Eugene Onegin for Paris Opera, Iolanta for Opera de Rouen and Così fan tutte for Zurich Opera. Additional highlights include Don Ottavio (Don Giovanni) and Ferrando (Così fan tutte) for Vienna State Opera, Tamino (Die Zauberflöte) and Alfredo (La traviata) for Staatsoper Unter den Linden, Lensky (Eugene Onegin) for Teatro Real, Madrid and Staatsoper Hamburg, Prince Guidon (The Tale of Tsar Saltan) in Madrid and for La Monnaie, Brussels, Lensky in Vienna and Ferrando (Così fan tutte) and Prince Myshkin in the world premiere of Weinberg’s The Idiot for the Salzburg Festival. Engagements for 2026/27 include The Creation with Boston Symphony Orchestra, L’Elisir d’amore for Vienna State Opera, Kat’a Kabanova for Teatro Real, Madrid and May Night for Opera de Lyon.
