Biography

Italian bass Carlo Lepore made his Royal Opera debut in 2008 as Ginardo (Matilde di Shabran) and has since sung Don Alfonso (Così fan tutte) and Bartolo (Le nozze di Figaro). Born in Naples, he studied singing and law in Rome. His awards include First Prize at the Giovanni Battista Pergolesi Competition in Rome and the Adriano Belli Competition in Spoleto. Previous engagements have included Don Magnifico (La Cenerentola) in Naples, Doctor Bartolo (Il barbiere di Siviglia) for Paris Opera, Teatro Real, Madrid, Teatro Colón, Opéra de Montréal, and in Naples and Palermo, Dulcamara (L’elisir d’amore) for La Fenice and in Cologne, Selim (Il turco in Italia) and the title role of Gianni Schicchi in Turin, Geronte di Revoir (Manon Lescaut) in Rome, Leporello (Don Giovanni) in Turin and Bergamo and for the Savonlinna Festival and Mustafà (L’italiana in Algeri) for Semperoper Dresden. His engagements for the 2025/26 Season include La sonnambula in Palermo, and (for The Royal Opera), Bartolo in The Marriage of Figaro.
