Caroline Modiba
Biography
South African soprano Caroline Modiba studied at Birmingham City University (Birmingham Conservatoire) and the National Opera Studio. She joined the Royal Opera Chorus in 2022 and has covered the roles of First Nymph in Rusalka, High Priestess in Aida and Trainbearer in Elektra , as well as sung Una pescivendola in Andrea Chénier. Roles elsewhere have included Despina (Così fan tutte), Violetta (La traviata) and Lucia (Lucia di Lammermoor) for Black Tie Ensemble, Lauretta (Gianni Schiichi) for Opera Africa, Donna Anna (Don Giovanni), Clara and Strawberry Woman (Porgy and Bess) and cover Susanna (Le nozze di Figaro) for Cape Town Opera, soprano soloist in Verdi’s Requiem with Birmingham Conservatoire, Donna Anna with Headfirst Opera, Lucy (Treemonisha) with Spectra Ensemble and cover Clara for English National Opera.
