Biography
Irish mezzo-soprano Carolyn Holt studied at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland’s Alexander Gibson Opera School, Royal Irish Academy of Music and the Royal Academy of Music. She is the recipient of the Dermot Troy Prize at the Veronica Dunne International Singing Competition and has performed with companies including The Royal Opera, Theater Bonn, Irish National Opera, Welsh National Opera, New Opera Singapore, Wexford Festival Opera, Irish Chamber Orchestra, Scottish Opera and English National Opera. Previous highlights include Bianca (The Rape of Lucretia) for The Royal Opera, Annina (Der Rosenkavalier) and the Voice of Antonia’s Mother (Les Contes d'Hoffmann) for Irish National Opera, Mrs Grose (The Turn of the Screw) and Madame Larina (Eugene Onegin) for Garsington Opera, Gertrude (Hansel und Gretel) for Lyric Opera Ireland, Cornelia (Guilio Cesare) for Blackwater Valley Opera Festival and the Minskwoman (Flight) for Opera Collective Ireland.
