Chantal Thomas studied set design at the École Nationale des Arts Décoratifs de Paris. She has worked with choreographer Laura Scozzi, and directors including Michel Rostain, Étienne Pommeret, Richard Brunel and Frédéric Bélier-Garcia. Her collaborations with director Laurent Pelly include over 60 productions, ranging from theatre (Le Roi nu, Mille francs de récompense, Harvey…), musicals (Et Vian!) and operas including Orphée aux enfers (Grand Théâtre de Genève), La Grande-Duchesse de Gérolstein and La belle Hélène (Théâtre du Châtelet), Les contes d’Hoffmann (Opéra de Lyon) Platée, Giulio Cesare and I puritani (Paris Opera), La Cenerentola (Amsterdam, Los Angeles), La traviata, Candide (Santa Fe), Così fan tutte and La Périchole (Théâtre des Champs-Élysées). Recent highlights include Le nozze di Figaro (Santa Fe and Japan), Il turco in Italia (Madrid and Lyon), Die Fledermaus at Lille Opera, and Robinson Crusoé the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées.  Her previous designs for The Royal Opera include: La Fille du régiment, Manon, L’elisir d’amore and Robert le Diable.
