Charles Castronovo
Biography
Born in New York, he is a graduate of the Metropolitan Opera’s Lindemann Young Artist Program. Roles for The Royal Opera have included Edgardo (Lucia di Lammermoor), Alfredo, Ruggero (La rondine), Rodolfo (La bohème), Tom Rakewell (The Rake’s Progress), Tamino (The Magic Flute) and Ferrando (Così fan tutte). Recent highlights include Macduff (Macbeth) for the Salzburg Festival, Cavaradossi (Tosca) for Bayerische Staatsoper, Don Carlos in Munich, Paris and Geneva, Riccardo (Un ballo in maschera) for the Metropolitan Opera and in Munich and Zurich, the title role in Ernani in concert in Munich, his role debut as Max (Der Freischütz) with the Kammerakademie Potsdam Orchestra, Des Grieux (Manon Lescaut) in Valencia and Warsaw and Maurizio (Adriana Lecouvreur) for Teatro Verdi. Engagements for 2025/26 include Roméo in Roméo et Juliette in Berlin and his role debut as Werther in Tokyo.
