Biography
British–German composer Charlotte Bray is an 2019 Ivor Novello Award winner, and is the current Composer‑in‑Residence with L’Orchestre de Chambre de Genève (2023-26). Bray’s music has been commissioned and performed by ensembles including the BBC Symphony Orchestra, BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Royal Opera House, Radio‑Symphonieorchester Wien, Deutsches Symphonie‑Orchester Berlin, and Hong Kong Sinfonietta. Her work has featured at festivals such as Aldeburgh, Cheltenham, Tanglewood, Aix‑en‑Provence and Verbier, and she has collaborated with conductors including Marin Alsop, Mark Elder, Sakari Oramo and Karina Canellakis. Recent and forthcoming highlights include the premiere of her first full‑scale opera American Mother (2025) for Theatre Hagen, a new arrangement of The Earth Cried out to the Sky (L’Orchestre de Chambre de Genève), In an Eternal Dusk (Müpa Budapest, Konzerthaus Wien and the European Concert Hall Organisation), Nothing Ever Truly Ends (Ensemble intercontemporain) and A Sky Too Small (Orchestre de Paris).
