Christophe Mortagne
Biography
French tenor Christophe Mortagne made his Royal Opera debut in 2010 as Guillot de Morfontaine (Manon) and has since returned to sing Monsieur Triquet (Eugene Onegin), Guillot de Morfontaine, King Ouf I (L’Étoile) and Spalanzani (Les Contes d’Hoffmann).
Mortagne was born in France and studied at the Paris Conservatoire. Opera engagements include Guillot de Morfontaine (Metropolitan Opera, La Scala, Milan, and NHK Hall, Tokyo), Monsieur Triquet for Opéra de Lyon, King Ouf I for Frankfurt Opera and Dutch National Opera, Spoletta (Tosca) for the Chorégies d’Orange Festival, the title role in Le Roi carotte for Opéra de Lyon (winner of the International Opera Award for Rediscovered Work) and Le Fellah and First Vendor (Rabaud’s Mârouf, savetier du Caire) for the Opéra-Comique. Mortagne also works as an actor. He has been a member of the Comédie-Française and has performed at many French theatres.
