Grammy Award-winning baritone Christopher Maltman has appeared at the Royal Opera House, Salzburg Festival, Vienna State Opera, Metropolitan Opera, Bayerische Staatsoper, Staatsoper Berlin and La Scala, Milan. His 2025/26 highlights included the title role in Der fliegende Holländer for the Bayerische Staatsoper tour to Shanghai and Tiroler Festspiele Erl, Don Pizarro (Fidelio) and Don Alfonso (Così fan tutte) in Vienna, Scarpia (Tosca) for Staatsoper unter den Linden, Vienna and Der Wanderer (Siegfried) for The Royal Opera. His other previous roles for The Royal Opera include Wotan, Iago, Leporello, Don Giovanni and Papageno. Engagements for 2026/27 include Simone (Eine florentinische Tragodie) in Vienna, a complete Ring cycle for Paris Opera, Jack Rance (La fanciulla del West) for the Metropolitan Opera, Wotan (Die Walküre) for the Salzburg Easter Festival and the title role in Bluebeard’s Castle for Hungarian State Opera.
