Clare Presland trained at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama. She was a Chilcott Award winner. Highlights include Queen of Hearts (Alice's Adventures Under Ground) for The Royal Opera and Irish National Opera, Aksinya (Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk) for Opéra de Lyon and Staatsoper Hamburg, Auntie (Peter Grimes) for Staatsoper Hamburg, Mrs Lovett (Sweeney Todd) for West Green House Opera, Varvara (Katya Kabanova) for Opera Holland Park, Hermia (A Midsummer Night's Dream) for English National Opera, Aldeburgh Festival and Hyogo Performing Arts Center, Hippolyta (A Midsummer Night's Dream) for Lille Opera and the world premiere of Dani Howard's Yellow Wallpaper at the Copenhagen Festival, Sadler’s Wells and Opera Nova Festival, Prague. In concert, she sang in Wigmore Hall, at the BBC Proms with the London Philharmonic Orchestra, and world premieres by Alexander Goehr and Francis Pott. Engagements for 2024/25 include her Teatro dell'Opera di Roma debut in Peter Grimes and Page (Salome) for Staatsoper Hamburg.
