Biography

Colin Alexander is a cellist and composer working across a range of disciplines and traditions. Whilst collaborating with artists such as Kit Downes, Héloïse Werner, Abel Selaocoe, Max Baillie, Alice Zawadzki, Sean Shibe and Misha Mullov-Abbado, he also performs with a variety of ensembles including 12 Ensemble, LSO Ensemble for composers, Phaedra Ensemble and United Strings of Europe. Recent projects have included a new electro-acoustic commission for flamenco dancer, live cello and electronics for Resolution Festival 2025, a world premiere at London’s Wigmore Hall and a series of performances of his own solo cello suites.

Alexander is also a founding member of Miré with Kit Downes (piano/organ) and Héloïse Werner (voice), a trio where three distinct musical minds collide, entangle, melt and reform. Their debut EP Revelries was released in January 2026 on Delphian Records.
