Biography

Russian mezzo-Soprano Ekaterina Gubanova appears at the Metropolitan Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, La Scala, Milan, Paris Opera, Vienna State Opera, Bayerische Staatsoper, Staatsoper unter den Linden, Liceu, Barcelona, Teatro Real, Madrid, Bayreuth Festival and many more. Her repertory includes the works of Wagner and Verdi, as well as the roles of Santuzza (Cavalleria rusticana), Adalgisa (Norma), Giovanna Seymour (Anna Bolena), Lyubasha (The Tsar’s Bride), Mère Marie (Dialogues des Carmélites) and Marguerite (La damnation de Faust). She is a former member of The Royal Opera’s Jette Parker Young Artists Programme and has returned for Venus (Tannhäuser). Recent highlights include Ortrud (Lohengrin) and Brangäne (Tristan und Isolde) for the Metropolitan Opera, Venus for Vienna State Opera, Foreign Princess (Rusalka) and Eboli (Don Carlos) for Paris Opera, Foreign Princess for Teatro di San Carlo, Naples and Brangäne and Kundry (Parsifal) for the Bayreuth Festival. Engagements for 2026/27 include Ljubov (Mazeppa) and Fricka (Das Rheingold, Die Walküre) for Bayerische Staatsoper.
