Biography
Cuban-American soprano Elena Villalón is an alumna of the Houston Grand Opera Studio and the winner of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, multiple prizes at the Hans Gabor Belvedere Competition and Third Prize and Audience Prize at the 2023 Operalia Competition. 2025/26 highlights included debuts at Chicago Opera Theater as Glauce (Medea), Opera Bordeaux as Pamina (Die Zauberflöte) and the Glyndebourne Festival as Fiorilla (Il turco in Italia). Other recent highlights include Nuria (Ainadamar) at the Metropolitan Opera, a solo recital debut at Carnegie Hall, Gilda (Rigoletto) for Santa Fe Opera, Almirena (Rinaldo) for Detroit Opera and the title role in Rodelinda, Susanna (Le nozze di Figaro) and Sophie (Der Rosenkavalier) for Oper Frankfurt. She made her debut with The Royal Opera in the 2025/26 Season as Dalinda (Ariodante). Engagements for 2026/27 include debuts at Berlin Staatsoper as Gilda, Paris Opera as Zerlina (Don Giovanni) and Zurich Opera as Musetta (La bohème).
