Australian pianist Elli Welsh is the Associate Pianist for The Royal Ballet 2023/2024. She is also a ballet pianist for Sylvia Young Theatre School and previously for the Central School of Ballet. As a 2022/2023 Britten Pears Young Artist and the Viola Tunnard Artist, she recently gave her debut recital at The Red House in Aldeburgh and worked with Antonio Pappano on La bohème. In 2021/2022, Elli was a Young Artist Repetiteur with the National Opera Studio, generously supported by Karen and Lee McLernon and as a Tait Memorial Trust Awardee. She has appeared in masterclasses with Dame Ann Murray, Antonio Pappano, Brindley Sherratt, Nicky Spence and Gweneth-Ann Rand. Recent performance venues and events include Verbier Festival 2023, Wigmore Hall, Aldeburgh Festival, Classical Vauxhall, Two Moors Festival, Omnibus Theatre, Cadogan Hall, Wales Millennium Centre and Theatre Royal Glasgow. Elli is also a member of In Toto Music Collective, a group that delivers workshops and recitals which focus on introducing young people to opera and classical music in a fun and accessible way.
Elli graduated from the Royal Academy of Music in 2020 with a Professional Diploma in Piano Accompaniment (Distinction, DipRAM) under James Baillieu. Her studies were made possible by the Ena Williams Award for Postgraduate Study Overseas, which she won in 2019. Under the tutelage of Natasha Vlassenko, Elli also holds a Master of Music Studies in Piano Performance with Distinction and a Bachelor of Music in Advanced Performance from the Queensland Conservatorium in Australia.
