Canadian-Italian mezzo-soprano Emily D’Angelo is a former member of the Canadian Opera Company Ensemble Studio and the Metropolitan Opera Lindemann Young Artist Development Program, and a graduate of the Ravinia Festival’s Steans Music Institute. Recent engagements include her BBC Proms debut as a soloist in Mahler’s ‘Resurrection’ Symphony, creating the role of Jess in the world premiere of Jeanine Tesori’s Grounded for the Metropolitan Opera, Idamante (Idomeneo), her role debut as Octavian (Der Rosenkavalier), Donna Elvira (Don Giovanni) and Dorabella (Così fan tutte) for Vienna State Opera and Cherubino (Le nozze di Figaro) for Bayerische Staatsoper and the Metropolitan Opera. Her albums include enargeia (2021) and freezing (2024), both released on Deutsche Grammophon. Previous roles for The Royal Opera include Sesto (La clemenza di Tito) and Ruggiero (Alcina). Engagements for 2025/26 include Sesto for Vienna State Opera, her London Symphony Orchestra debut with The Dream of Gerontius under Antonio Pappano and her Philadelphia Orchestra debut as a soloist in Bernstein’s Jeremiah Symphony under Yannick Nézet-Séguin. In the 2025/26 Royal Opera Season, she sings the title role of Ariodante.
