Biography
Albanian mezzo-soprano Enkelejda Shkoza made her Royal Opera debut in 1997 as Maddalena (Rigoletto) and has since returned for Dorabella (Così fan tutte), Suzuki (Madama Butterfly), Paulina (The Queen of Spades), Contessa d’Arco (Matilde di Shabran), Hedwige (Guillaume Tell) and Marquise de Berkenfield (La Fille du régiment). Elsewhere, Shkoza has performed for the Metropolitan Opera, La Scala, Milan, Paris Opera, Théâtre du Châtelet, Paris, La Monnaie, Brussels, Dresden Semperoper, Vienna State Opera, Teatro Real, Madrid, Teatro di San Carlo, Genoa and Monte Carlo Opera. Her repertory includes Angelina (La Cenerentola), Isabella (L’italiana in Algeri), Sara, Duchess of Nottingham (Roberto Devereux), Romeo (I Capuleti e i Montecchi), Fenena (Nabucco), Azucena (Il trovatore), Preziosilla (La forza del destino), Eboli (Don Carlo), Amneris (Aida), Emilia (Otello), Mistress Quickly (Falstaff), Princess (Suor Angelica), Zita (Gianni Schicchi), Marguerite (La damnation de Faust), Carmen, Giulietta (Les contes d’Hoffmann) and Charlotte (Werther). She has recorded for labels including Opera Rara and LSO Live.
