Biography
Ermonela Jaho was born in Albania and regularly performs worldwide, including at the Royal Opera House, Metropolitan Opera, Bayerische Staatsoper, Liceu, Barcelona, La Scala, Milan, Paris Opera, Vienna State Opera, Teatro Real, Madrid, Teatro Colón, Buenos Aires and the Arena di Verona. Her recent awards include Artist of the Year at the 2023 International Classical Music Awards, Best Female Singer at the 2024 German Oper! Awards and Best Foreign Artist at the 2024 XXI Spanish Opera Awards. Her solo album, Anima Rara, won the 2021 ICMA Vocal Music, and she was also the winner of the Readers Award at the 2016 International Opera Awards. She is the Artist Ambassador of Opera Rara and Opera for Peace, and is a member of the Academy of Sciences of Albania. Her signature roles include Violetta, Cio-Cio-San, Suor Angelica, Adriana Lecouvreur, Anna Bolena, Thaïs and Luisa Miller. Recent and upcoming engagements include performances as Violetta at the Royal Opera House, Metropolitan Opera, and Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, Cio-Cio-San at Vienna State Opera and the Bayerische Staatsoper, Magda at Opernhaus Zürich, Adriana Lecouvreur at Vienna State Opera, Mimì at the Metropolitan Opera, Liù at the Puccini Festival in Torre del Lago and at the Bayerische Staatsoper, as well as a title role debut in Mascagni's Iris at Teatro Real, Madrid.
