Grammy Award-winning Canadian bass-baritone Gerald Finley has performed at opera houses and concert venues worldwide, and has an extensive discography on CD and DVD. His wide-ranging repertoire encompasses the music of Mozart, Wagner and Verdi as well as roles including Bluebeard and Guillaume Tell. His 2023/24 season highlights included the title role in Die fliegende Holländer (Norwegian National Opera and Decca); Hans Sachs (Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg) in Madrid; and returns to Bayerische Staatsoper as Amfortas and to the Royal Opera House as Don Alfonso. Recent concert highlights include Mendelssohn’s Elijah with the London Symphony Orchestra, Bluebeard’s Castle with the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, Oslo Philharmonic and San Francisco Symphony, and a European recital tour with Julius Drake. Engagements for 2024/25 include the title role in Macbeth at Vienna State Opera and Bayerische Staatsoper, Scarpia (Tosca) at Staatsoper unter den Linden and recitals with Isata Kanneh-Mason.
