Biography

Argentinean baritone Germán Enrique Alcántara is a graduate of the Jette Parker Young Artists Programme, and made his debut with The Royal Opera in the 2018/19 Season as Dancaïro in Carmen. He has since returned for many productions including Angelotti in Tosca, Count Almaviva in The Marriage of Figaro and Enrico in Lucia di Lammermoor. He has also sung the title role in Don Giovanni at Israeli Opera in Tel Aviv and at San Diego Opera. 2024/25 role highlights included Rigoletto with Welsh National Opera, Renato in Un ballo in maschera at Teatro Colón, Rodrigo in Don Carlos and Germont (La traviata) in Kiel, and the title role in Rufus Wainwright’s Hadrian at Festival di Spoleto. 2025/26 highlights include Miller in Luisa Miller at Palau de les Arts in Valencia, Riccardo in I Puritani in Buenos Aires and Enrico (Lucia di Lammermoor) in Toulouse.
