Biography

South Korean baritone Gihoon Kim studied at the Yonsei University in Seoul and is a former ensemble member of Staatstheater Hannover. He was named BBC Cardiff Singer of the World in 2021. Additional awards include Second Prize and the Audience Prize at the 2019 Operalia competition and Second Prize at the 2019 International Tchaikovsky Competition. 2023/24 Season engagements include house debuts at Dallas Opera and Bayerische Staatsoper as Scarpia (Tosca), and in concert, his debut at Wigmore Hall. Recent engagements include debuts at the Glyndebourne Festival, Korea National Opera and Washington National Opera as Marcello (La bohème). Future engagements include debuts with the Metropolitan Opera and Danish Royal Opera. He makes his Royal Opera debut in the 2023/24 Season as Marcello (La bohème).
