Italian conductor Giovanni Fanizza joins the Jette Parker Artists Programme in the 2025/26 Season as Ballet Conductor. He is a graduate of the Haute école de musique de Genève with a Masters in Orchestral Conducting, where he studied with Laurent Gay. Fanizza began his conducting training at the Conservatorio della Svizzera italiana in Lugano, studying with Marc Kissoczy, Francesco Bossaglia, and Arturo Tamayo. He has also trained with Nicolas Pasquet, Ekhart Wycik, Colin Metters, Donato Renzetti, Heinz Holliger, Matteo Beltrami and Christoph König. Prior to focusing on conducting, he studied accordion with Germano Scurti and composition with Nadir Vassena. He has collaborated with various orchestras and ensembles, including the Flander Symphony Orchestra, Gstaad Festival Orchestra, Karlovy Vary Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre des Pays de Savoie, Divertimento Ensemble, Orchestre de l'Université de Genève, Orchestra Sinfonica del Lario, AIDO Ensemble and Berlin Sinfonietta. In 2024, Fanizza joined the Gstaad Conducting Academy, working with Johannes Schlaefli and Jaap van Zweden, and completed an internship at the Grand Théâtre de Genève on a production of Salome with Jukka-Pekka Saraste. In 2025, he will be a Conducting Fellow at the Aspen Music Festival, working with Robert Spano, Mark Stringer, Hugh Wolff and Enrique Mazzola.
