Canadian bass-baritone Gordon Bintner is a former member of Canadian Opera Company’s Opera Studio and a former ensemble member at Frankfurt Opera. Roles at the COC included the title roles in Don Giovanni and Eugene Onegin, Count Almaviva (Le nozze di Figaro), Belcore (L’elisir d’amore) and Papageno (Die Zauberflöte). Roles at Oper Frankfurt included Count Almaviva and Figaro (Le nozze di Figaro), Papageno, Argante (Rinaldo), Gorjančikov (From the House of the Dead), Chorèbe (Les Troyens), Graf (Capriccio), Harlekin (Ariadne auf Naxos) and Count (Der ferne Klang). Recent highlights include Almaviva for Lyric Opera of Chicago, Eugene Onegin for San Francisco Opera and Golaud (Pelléas et Mélisande), Junior (A Quiet Place), Oronte (Médée) and Guglielmo (Così fan tutte) for Paris Opera. For The Royal Opera he has sung Eugene Onegin, Guglielmo and Albert (Werther). Engagements for 2026/27 include his Metropolitan Opera debut as Papageno and returns to Paris Opera as Albert in a new production of Werther and to COC as Thomas Heiser in the world premier of Ian Cusson's Empire of Wild.
