Biography
Born in Bologna, Gregory Bonfatti graduated in Voice, Piano and Composition from the Ferrara Conservatory. Winner of the ‘Belli’ competition in Spoleto, he made his debut as Don Ramiro in La Cenerentola. His subsequent appearances have included roles at the Royal Opera House, San Carlo, Naples, La Scala, Milan, Staatsoper Berlin, Opera de Liège, Théâtre du Capitole, Toulouse, Teatro Regio, Turin, Opera di Roma, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, La Fenice, Venice, and the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. He has collaborated with conductors including Paolo Arrivabeni, Maurizio Benini, Daniele Gatti, Carlo Maria Giulini, Riccardo Muti and Antonio Pappano. 2024/25 highlights included Falstaff in Paris and Glyndebourne, Turandot in Seoul, Die Fledermaus in Cagliari, and Salome and La Fanciulla del West in Naples. 2025/26 highlights include Falstaff in Parma and Naples and Turandot in Milan. Previously for The Royal Opera: Le Nozze di Figaro (2022). In the 2025/26 Royal Opera Season he sings Don Basilio (The Marriage of Figaro).
